Donna Rae is speaking to a group of executive women at P&G today!!
I spoke to a group of business leaders about Innovation last evening!
At the presentation another speaker spoke about Entrepreneurialism and how to make it happen for yourself. He had a ton of start-up examples and stories.
He got me to thinking about a concept we exploited at Rubbermaid - Intrapraneurialism. The strategy was to create opportunities within the organization for ideas (be they product, process, technology, structure, etc.) to be owned and deployed/executed by the creator - a Great Way to make things happen that move the business forward in new and different ways.
So, our website, retail stores, some new product lines, business teams, financial metrics (EVA), and many more ideas were introduced and "owned" by individuals or small groups who sponsored, fostered and grew them to a value-contributing level of performance.
Just a thought for those of you who see entrepreneurialism from a start-up person only. It also applies to innovation from an inside-the-business perspective as well.
